It was a wet, wild and windy weekend for the Bass n Stars of Oakland County up on the Indian River Chain of Burt / Mullet/ Pikerel/ Crooked. It’s been said only idiots and Bass n Stars (interchangeable) fish in an F4. The fish were just starting to move up and to many it was not spring pickin’s as usual! Day one found Mike Borashko pullin in the Megladon 6lb. Smallies of dreams from the back of  Chris Gutuskey’s  new 21i Skeeter. Let’s hope Mike gives credit to his pard for spending the time to prefish. Together they produced a new club record for 5 fish, of 25lb and something  which escapes me at the moment being I wound up in 4th! Take a look at the hogs Mike is struggling to heft…maybe a gym membership is in order! Little Bill and his partner Gary show off their day 2 winnersOn day two, Little Bill and His pardner Gary (non club ringer brought in for the event) fishing from Bill’s  beautiful new Ranger pulled off a stunning upset in a tight race to take 1st with a little over 17lbs..... It was probably the best weekend in club history with numbers of fish over 5lbs coming to the scales and everyone had a great time by the end of the weekend, including the new guy Craig changing trailer rubber for the other new guy Tim with a record tire swap that would make Nascar pit crews envious! Even Drew “no fish” Rodgers was smiling at the weigh in for day 2! In the afterhours entertainment category Mike ”big dawg”  Rusher picked up the coveted trophy for the 2 day Texas Hold Em Tournament event. All in all, with fuel prices climbing to the stratosphere we probably eliminated the Saudi National debt at 4.20 per gal, but fair to say we still had a good time. Makes St. Clair look pretty attractive for numbers of fish close to home. Next venue, Union lake, who knows what lurks…stay tuned! Because if ya can’t handle the heated battle of  tournament fishin…stay home with the snoopy rod n’ jerk perch!
