Frequently Asked Questions

How can someone join the Bass'n Stars?
The club is just about always looking for new members.  If you are interested in joining, please drop us an email.  We will have someone call you as soon as possible.  We do require new people to attend a couple of meetings before they are allowed to be voted on membership.  If you are really interested in joining, check out our bylaws and membership handbook.  They have additional information in them about the club.

Do I have to fish every tournament?
No you do not.  We understand that people have other things besides fishing (even though  we sometimes have been accused of only wanting to fish 365 days of the year).  Our annual club standings are based on points, The more tournaments you fish and the better you do, the higher in the final standings  you will finish.  The only requirement is that you fish at least 51% of the tournaments.

Where is the club based out of?
We are "based out of" Walled Lake, Michigan.  We have members that live in Ypsilanti, Tecumseh and Fowlerville as well as Walled Lake.  There is no residency requirement at all. It's really a matter of how far you choose to drive.  There are also other clubs all around the state of Michigan.

Do I have to own a Bass Boat to Join the club?
No, you do not.  Currently about half of our club members do not even own a Bass Boat at all.  They do how ever own a whole lot of Bass Fishing Tackle.  But again that's not even a requirement.  The main requirement is a desire to want to Bass Fish.

How often does the club meet?
We actually meet 12 months a year.  Our club even meets in the winter to talk about fishing or something related to fishing.  This past year, we met the first couple of months of the year to learn CPR.

Which lakes does the club  fish each year?
It really varies.  Generally we try to fish Lake St. Clair at least once a season.  Our club is better know as a Smallmouth club, a lot of the members like fishing for Smallmouth more that Largemouth.  We do fish inland lakes on a regular basis. We have been known to fish Tipsico, Union, Whamplers, Lobdell as well as a couple of "out of town" lakes each season.  Those usually involve a weekend tournament and staying out of town as a group.

Who would a new member fish with?
When we fish tournaments we use a "draw" system to set up your partner.  Each tournament we sit down a list who is fishing that particular tournament and use cards to randomly pair up the boaters with non-boaters.  Our guidelines require members to only fish with another individual one time a year during a tournament.
